Arrest History in Green Lake County
Green Lake County arrest records begin with the agency that made the arrest. That may be the Green Lake County Sheriff, Berlin Police, Green Lake Police, Markesan Police, Princeton Police, Wisconsin State Patrol, or a Wisconsin DNR warden. The arresting agency writes the incident or arrest report. County correctional staff create a separate custody record. Fingerprints from a qualifying custodial arrest can start a Wisconsin Crime Information Bureau cycle.
The records then branch. District Attorney staff may decline, amend, or file charges. The Circuit Court opens a case only after a filing. Those differences explain why a police allegation, booking charge, complaint, and judgment may not match word for word. The Green Lake County arrest entry records the event at that point in time. It never proves a conviction.
The Green Lake County Sheriff's official page identifies the local records and communications channels. Its captured source appears below.
The Sheriff's Records Division is the direct source for a county incident or arrest report, while the jail and clerk answer different parts of the same event.
Green Lake County Arrests at the Jail
The Green Lake County Correctional Facility is a 108-bed county jail that opened in July 2010. It is at 571 County Road A in the same justice complex as the sheriff, clerk, court, and prosecutor. Current custody information starts with the jail at 920-294-4059, option 1. WI-VINE at 888-868-4633 offers custody-status notification. After a transfer to state prison or state community supervision, use the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Person in Our Care or Client Search instead.
The county's correctional facility source describes the jail and its custody services. The image below documents that official source.
A jail answer may confirm present custody, but it does not replace the agency report, filed court case, or final judgment.
Bond at the corrections lobby uses the Stellar kiosk. Cash carries a $2 transaction fee, while debit carries a 10 percent fee. During the clerk's business hours, people posting Green Lake County bond are directed to the Clerk's office. Those payment details concern release processing. They do not establish the result of the charge.
How to Look Up Green Lake County Arrests
Green Lake County has no official public online jail roster, complete booking log, warrant search, or agency mobile app. Use the jail, arresting agency, court, and state sources in sequence. A full name, event date, agency, location, and case number help each custodian find the right record. Avoid relying on a name alone.
- Call the Green Lake County jail at 920-294-4059 to ask about current county custody. Use WI-VINE at 888-868-4633 for eligible custody notifications.
- Identify the arresting agency and ask for its incident or arrest report. For the Sheriff, email the records request with the person, report type, event date, details, and case number if known.
- Search WCCA over the next business days for a Green Lake County CF, CM, or CT filing. Then request the complaint or judgment from the clerk.
- Use the Wisconsin Online Record Check System when a fingerprint-supported adult Wisconsin history is needed. That state product costs $7 and is not a nationwide record.
- When the quick channels do not answer the question, send a focused public-records request to the agency or visit its records counter. Ask for an existing electronic copy when that format works.
Note: WCCA may lag a new booking, and the DOC search does not represent ordinary pretrial custody in the Green Lake County jail.
Request Green Lake County Arrest Reports
The Green Lake County Sheriff's Records Division transcribes officer reports into Spillman Public Safety Software, checks the entries, tracks case progress, and adds dispositions. Email Rachel Heiling at rheiling@greenlakecountywi.gov. Include the involved person's full name, the type of case or report, the occurrence date, enough event detail to locate it, and the case number when known. Ask for the desired format. If an electronic copy is possible, the Sheriff says it can be emailed at no cost. Printed copies cost $0.25 per page.

Wisconsin Public Records Law allows oral requests in many cases, but a concise email leaves a clear record of what was sought. A custodian may redact protected juvenile, victim, personal, or active-investigation information. A written denial must give reasons. Ask for separable public portions rather than assuming the entire Green Lake County arrest report is closed.
What an Arrest Record Shows
A requested Green Lake County booking record may show intake fields that never appear on a public web page. The county does not publish a sample inmate profile, so no public mugshot, pod, medical detail, or classification field should be assumed. Ask for the basic booking identifiers and accept lawful limits on operational and personal data.
| Identity | Full name and aliases used to distinguish the booked person; verify with more than a name. |
|---|---|
| Booking number | The jail intake identifier that can connect later requests to the same custody event. |
| Booking date and time | When Green Lake County correctional staff recorded the intake. |
| Arresting agency | The Sheriff, city police, State Patrol, DNR, or other agency that holds the arrest report. |
| Arrest charges and holds | Allegations or legal holds recorded at intake, which can differ from charges later filed in court. |
| Bond by count | Release terms recorded for each applicable count or hold. |
| Custody or release status | Facility, present status, release date, or transfer when that information is public. |
| Booking photo | Not confirmed as routinely public online; any request is subject to records-custodian review and lawful balancing. |
Medical screening, jail classification, safety plans, and juvenile information are restricted. Those details do not belong in a general Green Lake County arrest lookup.
Green Lake County Arrests Reach CIB
At a qualifying custodial arrest, law enforcement takes fingerprints and submits the arrest fingerprint card under Wisconsin Statutes sections 165.83 and 165.84. That fingerprint event starts a cycle in the Wisconsin Department of Justice Centralized Criminal History database. Prosecutor decisions, court dispositions, sentences, and DOC admission or release notices may later attach to the cycle.
The flow is not automatic for every event. An unfingerprinted arrest will not enter CCH. A missing or delayed disposition may leave a cycle that appears open. The original arrest charge can stay visible even if the prosecutor files another charge, because the arrest record reports what the agency submitted at that stage. That difference does not by itself make the original Green Lake County arrest entry wrong.
The Wisconsin DOJ criminal-history forms source collects the official request, challenge, and removal materials. The captured source is shown below.
Use the court judgment to read the final charge result, and use the DOJ forms when the fingerprint-supported state record needs correction or review.
Recent Arrests and Booking Logs
Green Lake County does not publish an official complete daily booking log or public mugshot gallery. Sheriff press releases may describe selected events, but they are not a full arrest index. For a recent arrest, call the jail first. Then request the arresting agency's report and watch WCCA for any filed circuit case. This jail-agency-court chain is the official practical fallback when no roster exists.
The lack of a public roster also means that an empty web search has little value. A person may have been released, transferred, cited without a jail stay, held by another county, or never charged. WI-VINE helps with current custody notifications, while the DOC public search becomes relevant after state custody or community supervision begins. Neither source supplies a complete lifetime Green Lake County arrest history.
Note: Green Lake County arrest information should come from official custodians; no private mugshot or people-search source is needed for this process.
Green Lake County Arrest Agency Routes
The agency named on a booking record normally holds the arrest report. Green Lake County Sheriff reports use the records email. City reports stay with the relevant police department. State Patrol crash material has its own Wisconsin channel, and DNR warden records come from DNR. Sending one broad request to the county clerk will not retrieve these law-enforcement reports.
| Arresting agency | Official report channel |
|---|---|
| Green Lake County Sheriff | 571 County Road A; rheiling@greenlakecountywi.gov; 920-294-4134 ext. 1126 |
| Berlin Police | 108 N. Capron Street; department administrative channel and county dispatch for service |
| Green Lake Police | Official city Police Department channel; county dispatch at 920-294-4000 after hours |
| Markesan Police | 150 S. Bridge Street; 920-398-2121; fax 920-398-8127; records@markesanwi.gov |
| Princeton Police | 531 S. Fulton Street; 920-295-6250; fax 920-295-6558 |
| Wisconsin State Patrol | Wisconsin crash-report channel for crash records |
| Wisconsin DNR wardens | Request the originating DNR record; the county directory lists 920-369-6028 |
Berlin spans Green Lake and Waushara counties, so verify the incident location and county of filing. If charges were filed here, the Green Lake County criminal court case record provides the complaint and final disposition.
Arrests vs Convictions
A Green Lake County arrest record describes a law-enforcement and booking event. A conviction record describes a court judgment of guilt. Different offices create them, and each can have its own case number or date. A person can be arrested and released without charges. A prosecutor can file a different offense. A charge can be dismissed or end in acquittal. Only the court file can establish the outcome of a filed charge.
| Point | Arrest record | Conviction record |
|---|---|---|
| Created by | Arresting agency and Green Lake County jail | Green Lake County Circuit Court |
| Shows | Custody, intake, alleged charges, agency, bond, and status | Filed count, plea, disposition, judgment, and sentence |
| Proves | That an arrest or booking was recorded | That the court entered a judgment of guilt |
| Found through | Jail phone, agency request, WI-VINE, and possibly CCH | WCCA and the Clerk of Circuit Court file |
| Possible end | Release, no prosecution, dismissal, acquittal, or a filed case | Sentence, appeal, or qualifying expungement |
Note: An arrest is not proof of guilt, and many Green Lake County bookings never produce a conviction or the original alleged charge.
Correct a Green Lake County Arrest Cycle
When a dismissal or acquittal is missing from a Wisconsin history, obtain a certified judgment or dismissal order from the Green Lake County clerk. Wisconsin DOJ treats that court paper as strong correction evidence. If the wrong person's record appeared after a name search, fingerprints on FBI form FD-258 and DOJ form DJ-LE-247 allow CIB to compare identity. A successful false-match challenge may produce a Wisconsin Unique Personal Identification Number, or WiUPIN, for later searches. DOJ charges no challenge fee.
The DOJ incorrect criminal-history guidance explains false matches, corrections, and qualifying fingerprint-record removal. Its source image appears below.
Correction and removal are separate. DOJ form DJ-LE-250B may be considered after release without charges, non-prosecution, dismissal, or acquittal under the applicable rules. A conviction, pardon, amended lesser conviction, or dismissed read-in within a conviction event generally does not qualify. The official criminal-history challenge process provides the fingerprint path for an identity dispute, and the captured source below documents that route.
Wisconsin court expungement is different again. It can remove a qualifying court record from normal public access, but it does not automatically erase the fingerprint-supported Green Lake County arrest cycle from DOJ's database.
